This morning I took a 2 hour hike on the Apex trails near Golden. I carried along a notebook and a pencil in case some insights occurred to me on the hike. Sadly, my head was empty. I was barely aware enough to notice some wildflowers.
I came within a few inches of stepping on a harmless bull snake. It gave a mild warning hiss.
