My younger son and I hiked the Mount Galbraith trail this afternoon. The trail is distinguished by a series of charming rock stairs during the first mile or so. Decades ago the county park service undertook a labor of love in constructing stairs for the steepest sections of the trail out of flat rocks weighing upwards of a hundred pounds each. The manual effort must have been immense.
Here are photos of two of the rock stairs, one in the shade and one in the sun.
